The idea for the Fors Self-Defense™ water bottle came to me when my young family and I were caught during a somewhat violent protest. I am a mother of two small children. I would consider myself fit but not fit enough to protect my family with my bare hands. Right after the COVID mandate was lifted, I took my family for an outing to pedal some boats at a local beach. As we were walking back to our car, we noticed two large crowds colliding over what appeared to be some protest. Over a short period, we found ourselves in the middle of an arguing crowd of about 100 people. I thought to myself, “How am I going to protect my two small kids?” At the time all I had in my hands is my plastic water bottle. Luckily, we escaped unharmed, but I later realized that the plastic bottle that I had wouldn’t have helped me protect my family because it was flimsy.
That same evening, I had an idea to design a durable and indestructible water bottle that I could confidently take with me anywhere I go, for example, hiking, music concerts, gym etc. I manufactured and tested the bottle to see how much force it could take. I am happy to report that it withstood roughly 500 Newtons of force which is the same as 112 pound-force. Of course, the force will depend on who is using the bottle and the surface that it is being used. The Fors Self-Defense Water bottle is patent pending and is manufactured with food grade stainless steel.
